Kate began her media career as a newspaper reporter and later as a broadcast journalist for Lincs FM. Kate’s passion for finding a story led her to the world of PR. After learning the ropes at a bespoke furniture designer and maker in Nottingham and the University of Lincoln, she set up Shooting Star with Jez in 2006. Kate loves dining out, meeting up with friends and walking her dog Bailey.
Scorpio – determined, loyal and resourceful
Jez was the Editor of Lincolnshire Life magazine and a reporter for local newspapers before catching the PR bug in 1998 and leading the University of Lincoln media office for eight years. He set up Shooting Star with Kate in 2006. Jez grows his own veg, has a scruffy terrier called Hobbes and acts and directs with Common Ground Theatre Company.
Star sign: Pisces – compassionate, imaginative, adaptable
Half-Belgian, half-Dutch, Sarah-Jane studied PR and Journalism in Brussels, Belgium. Her early career was spent touring across Europe with obscure and famous bands. She moved to the UK in 2003 and has since worked her way back to her PR roots. She brings with her a wealth of experience acquired in sectors as wide and varied as renewable energy, international trade and automotive. Outside the office she is an award-winning baker and a prolific crafter-maker.
Star sign: Aries – passionate, driven and optimistic
Sharon’s love of marketing developed soon after graduating from University with a degree in Psychology. Thirteen years later she’s now a fully qualified and Chartered Marketer. Sharon brings a wealth of experience to the team and is on hand to ensure innovative and exciting marketing campaigns are delivered for both existing and new clients. In her spare time she enjoys meeting up with friends, good food and coffee, and long countryside walks.
Star sign: Libra – diplomatic, peaceful, romantic and charming
Having graduated from Bishop Grosseteste University, Kerri moved back to her home town of Newark where she has been working for The Wildlife Trusts for the past six years. While at The Wildlife Trusts Kerri enjoyed delivering PR and communications within a busy grants unit for both the Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food and the multi-million pound Biffa Award programmes. In her spare time Kerri can be found treading the boards at Robin Hood Theatre.
Star sign: Aquarius – enthusiastic, energetic, independent
Following studying an English degree at Sheffield Hallam University, Mike gained years of experience in newspaper journalism, with roles at the Barnsley Chronicle and the Hull Daily Mail, before becoming a magazine journalist. Having made the leap into communications and PR at West Lindsey District Council, he brings design and writing experience to Shooting Star. In his spare time, Mike edits his own music reviews website, which he helped found in 2004. He also plays drums and sings in a band and enjoys long country walks.
Star sign: Scorpio – creative, enquiring, determined
Zoe graduated with a degree in Marketing from the University of Lincoln in September 2015. As part of her four-year course, she spent a year working in internal communications for a design and manufacturing company near Munich, Germany. Zoe has previous PR agency experience from her hometown of Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Star sign: Aries – energetic, enterprising, incisive
Nikhita graduated in 2015 from Nottingham Trent University with a first class honours degree in Journalism. She produced a short award-winning documentary on the impact of parental imprisonment on children and the effect it has on them and those close to them. She has made the leap from a career in retail where she has built up her communication and organisational skills. Outside of work, Nikhita enjoys reading healthy eating blogs and keeping fit at the gym.
