Accountant Dennis Bows Out After 46 Years

After nearly half a century with the same company Dennis Lowe is retiring from chartered accountants Duncan & Toplis in Melton Mowbray.

His last day in the firm’s office on Park Road will be on Tuesday 30th June when he will hand over the reins to Alison Green, who has moved to the Melton office from Grantham.

Dennis, who is an Associate Director at Duncan & Toplis, worked for accountants Newby Castleman in the adjacent building for 40 years, but moved next door to Duncan & Toplis when the company acquired Newby Castleman six years ago.

Dennis’ client accounts are now being handled by Accounts Managers Alison Green and Clare Roome and Director Nick Smith.

“Dennis is such a hard act to follow that it’s taken three people to replace him!” joked Nick.

“He’s been such an asset to the company over the years and we will all miss him when he begins his well deserved retirement.”

Dennis, who was born and raised in Melton Mowbray, commented: “I’ve had a very fulfilling career, first at Newby Castleman and more recently at Duncan & Toplis. Now I’m looking forward to doing more gardening, playing more golf and spending more time with my family.”

Alison Green is settling into her new role after moving to the Melton office at the beginning of June. She is also the company’s training manager and has worked for Duncan & Toplis since 2012.

“Everyone’s been really welcoming and they’ve made it very easy for me to settle in,” she said. “I’m looking forward to meeting all my clients and building up a good relationship with them.”
