Allen Signs Staff to Pedal Their Way to Paris

To celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary and to raise money for charity, staff from Allen Signs are challenging themselves to complete a 190-mile bike ride.

On Saturday 28th May, Managing Director David Allen and Account Executive David Walker will take part in The Alfie Fisher Man Challenge, as part of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The pair will join a group of fellow volunteers who will attempt to complete the 190-mile journey from London to Paris within 24 hours.

Now in its third year, The Alfie Fisher Man Challenge is made up of volunteers who put themselves through physical challenges to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, as well as a different local cause each year.

The locally nominated cause for 2016 is For the Love of Lilly, which has been set-up to help fund advanced eye-operated communication equipment for a young girl with cerebral palsy.

Lilly, who is now five, was less than a year old when she was diagnosed with the condition, and although she can’t speak she has the cognitive abilities of a five-year-old. Her inability to express herself is extremely frustrating for her.

All monies raised from the challenge will be split evenly between the two charities, and will go some way to providing Lilly with her own voice and independence.

As well as staff participation, Allen Signs will also be using their professional expertise to provide the team with custom cycling tops.

David Walker commented: “This will be my third year raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. I’m Alfie’s godfather, so the Alfie Fisher Man Challenge is something that is very close to my heart.

“The money we raise will help to improve Lilly’s lifestyle and those who are affected by cystic fibrosis – both of which are great reasons to get involved.”

David Allen added: “Although I am only cycling part of the journey, the challenge will be a physical test; David will be riding the whole 190 miles which will be really tough. However, we are ready for the challenge! We’re a family-run business and our whole team is passionate about supporting worthwhile causes.

“To mark the completion of the 190-mile ride and the 50th anniversary of Allen Signs, we will be hosting a celebratory event in June and we look forward to announcing more details very soon,” said David.
