Brew Up and Help a Pup Next Month!

Host your own Mad Hatter’s tea party and ‘paws’ for a coffee next month – and the money you raise will ensure that hundreds of dogs find a loving and permanent home.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue is launching its annual Brew Up, Help a Pup campaign soon to raise much needed funds.

The charity has five centres at Thirsk in North Yorkshire, Blidworth in Nottinghamshire, Gilberdyke in East Yorkshire, Broughton in North Lincolnshire and Algarkirk in Lincolnshire and aims to find forever homes for over 800 dogs every year.

This year’s Brew Up, Help a Pup campaign has a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party theme and will be launched on 9th May 2015 at the Alice in Wonderland themed Curiositea café at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.

Brew Up Week is from Monday 25th until Saturday 30th May and the charity is urging its supporters to host an event in that week to boost its coffers.

“Hosting a tea party or coffee morning is great fun, and however large or small your party is, every penny raised will go towards giving dogs in need a brighter future,” said Jenny Harris, fund raiser at Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

“Brew Up, Help a Pup is a great excuse for a catch-up with your loved ones and a delicious treat all in the name of a good cause!

“With operating costs of £1.5 million, the support of local dog lovers is invaluable to help us rescue and re-home even more dogs.

“Simply set a date and location for your tea party, write your guest list and invite everyone. Then plan your day – do you want to bake your own cakes or stock up on treats from the supermarket?”

Jenny added that a raffle is a good way to raise extra funds and very easy to organise. “You could approach local businesses for raffle prizes, or ask friends to donate any unwanted gifts. Five tickets sold for £1 each would feed one of the dogs in our care for a whole week!” she said.

“We also have lots of brilliant ideas in our new fundraising packs which contain posters that can be customised with details of your own event, cake recipes for dogs and people, grand draw tickets, newsletters and our new A to Z of fundraising ideas!”

Register for your fundraising pack today by calling 01652 650886 or send an email to fundraising@jerrygreendogs.org.uk.

Supporters are asked to send their donation following their event to: Tea Party, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Broughton, North Lincolnshire, DN20 0BJ. Cheques should be made payable to Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

You can share news and photos of your event on the Jerry Green Dog Rescue Facebook page facebook.com/pages/Jerry-Green-Dog-Rescue/ and on Twitter @JerryGreenDogs.
