Conference Aims to Boost Lincolnshire Manufacturing

A major conference in March aims to help Lincolnshire manufacturers to seize new business opportunities.

The Greater Lincolnshire manufacturing sector provides jobs for around 39,000 people and is worth £1.8 billion per year to the economy.

That’s why Lincolnshire County Council has teamed up with NatWest to stage the second Lincolnshire Manufacturing Conference: Growing Your Supply Chain on Thursday 10th March 2016.

The half-day event will take place at Gainsborough Golf Club from 8.30am until 2pm, and afterwards delegates will have the chance to tour golf club maker Ping and exhaust and emissions systems manufacturer Eminox.

Co-organiser Samantha Harrison is urging owners and directors in the manufacturing sector not to miss this opportunity to make new contacts and get help and guidance on how to improve their business.

“The conference will be a chance for Greater Lincolnshire businesses to hear about the size and scale of opportunities that are available throughout the supply chain,” she said. “Those attending will get advice on the route to market and how to compete for contracts.

“There will also be talks by leading industry speakers, supply chain opportunities, local skills presentations, exhibitors, networking, a complementary buffet lunch and the launch of the Greater Lincolnshire Manufacturing Awards.”

Among the speakers will be Greater Lincolnshire LEP board members Cllr Colin Davie (Lincolnshire County Council) and Steve Middlebrough (Siemens Director of Engineering Turbine Services); Patrick Lee from the manufacturers’ organisation EEF; Richard Hill, Head of Automotive and Manufacturing at NatWest; Professor Tim Gordon from the University of Lincoln; Dr Rona McKenzie, Principal of the Lincoln UTC; and Michael Mychajluk, Supply Chain and External Engagement Manager at Jaguar Landrover.

Places are limited and booking is essential. To register your place or for further information please visit the Eventbrite page, email manufacturingconf@lincolnshire.gov.uk, call 01522 550590 or tweet @ManufactureConf.

The closing date for registrations is 4th March 2016.

The 2016 event follows the success of the success of the 2014 event in Sleaford, where the high-speed car BLOODHOUND SSC was on display.
