David Prepares Poppy Pedal Power for Prudential 100

David Moulds is poppy mad. As well as running the Lincoln 5k and the London Marathon dressed as a poppy, he’s now decorated his road bike to take part in the gruelling Prudential Ride 100.

David, a regular customer at the Lincoln branch of The Elite Fish & Chip Company, is raising funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, which is the company’s charity of the year.

He will start the 100-mile ride from Stratford on Sunday 31st July. He will then journey through the hilly terrain of the Surrey countryside before speeding back into central London to finish on The Mall.

Having already raised more than £5,000 so far, with the help of David and his wife Michaela as well as other fundraising activities, the Elite’s aim is to raise more than £10,000 by the end of the year. In addition to music events and concerts, the fish and chip chain is hosting quizzes and has many more plans up its sleeve to boost the total.

Adrian Tweedale, owner of The Elite Fish & Chip Company, said: “We’re impressed David has the energy to bike so far after his amazing efforts in the 5k and the marathon! Hopefully his bike will stick out among the other cyclists on the day and people will notice his effort.

“We’re doing really well on our fundraising for this year – with six months to go we should hit our target so that the Poppy Appeal can benefit and use the funds for deserving recipients.”

David said: “Thanks to Elite’s support and everyone’s generosity, we are raising so much for the Poppy Appeal. We’re hoping that this bike ride might bring in some more funds, but mainly it’s just to keep awareness up of the valuable work that the Poppy Appeal does.

“Hopefully the poppies on my bike won’t slow me down, I’m hoping to finish in around two and a half hours!”
