Double Award Nomination is a Sign of Success for Damian

A hard-working employee at Allen Signs, who has progressed from apprentice to Production Manager in six years, has been nominated for not one but two awards!

Damian Jacobs (24) has been shortlisted in the Young Sign Maker of the Year category in the British Sign Awards and Employee of the Year in the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards.

Managing Director David Allen said Damian deserves to go all the way: “When he joined us as an apprentice aged 18, Damian instantly showed commitment and a desire to exceed our expectations.

“He has all of the abilities required to manage a team, leading by example to create a positive ‘can do’ environment where we all work together to ensure that the deadlines set are met.  Often working long hours and managing difficult production and installation jobs, Damian always ensures everything runs to plan and does so with a smile on his face.

“He has been a fundamental part of the business’ growth over the last two years and has showed maturity by taking responsibility for the work scheduling and print management.”

Soon after joining Allen Signs Damian completed his Sign Making Level 2 Apprenticeship course and became one of the first in the UK to complete level 3 soon after.

He said: “I am thrilled to have been shortlisted for two awards! I always try to do the best I can in my job and it is nice to see my hard work being recognised in this way.

“However, Allen Signs’ success is down the efforts of everyone in the team and I would like to thank my colleagues, particularly those in workshop, for their support over the last six years. I could not have progressed so quickly without their help and advice.

“I was really pleased when I found out David had nominated me for both of these awards. He has always believed in me and encouraged me to further my career. When I started as an apprentice six years ago I had no idea I’d go on to become Production Manager at 24!”

This year’s Lincolnshire Media Business Awards presentation and dinner will be held at the EPIC Centre, Lincolnshire Showground on Tuesday 18th October. Meanwhile the 2016 British Sign Awards, run by the BSGA (British Sign and Graphics Association), will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on 3rd November.
