Jacqui Bell has joined Jerry Green Dog Rescue as the charity's new Chief Executive.

Dream Job for Dog Charity CEO

The new Chief Executive for Jerry Green Dog Rescue has secured her ‘dream job’ working with rescue dogs across five centres in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

She brings a wealth of experience in leadership from her previous chief executive roles at ARC; Association for Real Change, Cardiff Third Sector Council and Newcastle CVS.

Jacqui Bell will lead the team of 50-strong staff and volunteers and work closely with the Board of Directors to develop the charity’s strategic plan and set clear outcomes to deliver the charity’s welfare, business and fundraising plans.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue rehomed over 800 abandoned dogs last year, before matching them with the perfect partner through its unique Meet and Match scheme, developed by two members of the board, Victoria and John Taylor.

“Meet and Match is a way of rehoming that really puts the dogs at the heart of what we do, giving them a real chance to be seen at their best by potential rehomers – and it works! We have already found new homes for 92 dogs across all five centres this year,” said Jacqui.

“After spending almost 10 years working as a chief executive in third-sector organisations I’m delighted to be working for Jerry Green Dog Rescue. I’ve always been passionate about animals, particularly dogs, and have spent time as a volunteer dog walker and home visitor in the past.

“I’m confident my knowledge and experience will help Jerry Green Dog Rescue work toward a society where the welfare of animals is never compromised, where every dog has a loving and secure home, and ultimately enhance the lives of people who adopt a dog from us. The charity already has a loyal supporter base, which I’m planning to strengthen, and a team with years of experience.

“As a dog owner myself, I can honestly say this is my dream job and I hope to work here for many years making a real difference to the people who work with us, as well as the dogs we support.”

Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities. It has rescue centres in five locations:

• Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire Tel: 01430 449 112
• Blidworth near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire Tel: 01623 792 886
• Broughton near Brigg, North Lincolnshire Tel: 01652 653 343
• Algarkirk near Boston, Lincolnshire Tel: 01205 260 546
• Thirsk, North Yorkshire Tel: 01845 567 456

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.

The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.

The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
