Blink and you’ll miss it, but the Duncan & Toplis name is now proudly emblazoned across national rally championship driver Karl Simmons’ Subaru Impreza.

Having worked with the chartered accountants for many years, Southwell-based Karl has decided to display the name on the back of his liveried vehicle as a thank you to the firm for their hard work.

Karl said: “Duncan & Toplis and I go back a long way: Ian Phillips, Deputy Managing Director at the Newark office, looks after personal finances and taxation for me and my brother Guy, he was also instrumental in selling our family business to a PLC recently.”

Karl has always been a motorsport fan and with his brother has moved from motocross to rally driving. Starting off at a regional level, they won the East Midlands Championship and went on to compete at international level for a few years.

Back in the national championships now, the pair compete as regularly as business life allows, and both are hoping to reach the top three this season with some stiff competition in the way.

Karl added: “We travel all over with the car, which is based with a pro maintenance team in Wales. We compete across the country, all the way from Carlisle to the South West.

“The Duncan & Toplis name will be seen by hundreds, if not thousands of people.”

Ian Phillips said: “I am delighted to have the Duncan & Toplis name proudly displayed on Karl’s rally car. We have had the pleasure of dealing with Karl and his family for years so to get a nod of recognition is fantastic.
