Greater Lincolnshire LEP

Fourth Big Debate Will Provide Food for Thought

Greater Lincolnshire is the food heartland of the UK, growing 25% of the UK’s vegetables on a quarter of the country’s most productive grade one arable land and home to many major food processing businesses.

As such the £2.5 billion Greater Lincolnshire agri-food sector is one of the priority sectors for the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership. The future of the sector will be the topic of the latest Big Debate taking place next month.

The LEP will host a Big Food Debate with breakfast and networking at Roythornes Solicitors in Pinchbeck near Spalding on Friday 8th July from 8am until 10.30am, and everyone with a interest in the agri-food sector is invited to attend.

On the panel will be the LEP’s Chair, Ursula Lidbetter MBE; John Hayes, the Security Minister and MP for South Holland and The Deepings; and Mark Tinsley, Greater Lincolnshire LEP Board Director for food and farming.

After an introduction by Ursula Lidbetter John Hayes will give some political context in his keynote speech and Mark Tinsley will talk about the challenges and opportunities the sector faces. There will then be a panel discussion and follow-up questions.

The event will take place at Roythornes Solicitors, Enterprise Way, Pinchbeck, Spalding, Lincolnshire, PE11 3YR.

To book your free place call 01522 550515 or mail enquiries@greaterlincolnshirelep.co.uk  before Thursday 30th June stating that you would like to attend the food debate in Spalding.

The Big Food Debate is the fourth Big Debate organised by the Greater Lincolnshire LEP this year. It follows a discussion on the Midlands Engine in Lincoln in May and two debates in Brigg and Grantham in July discussing Greater Lincolnshire’s Devolution Deal.
