Head of Commercial Property at Andrew & Co LLP Julia Lock has been promoted to Partner; bringing the total number of partners to nine.

Julia, 36 from Newark, joined the firm in 2012 as an experienced commercial property lawyer and took over the running of the highly successful commercial property department last year.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2005, Julia has acted for a wide range of clients on a variety of high-value strategic land assembly and residential development projects. This included the drafting and negotiation of conditional contracts, option agreements, overage arrangements, leases and planning agreements together with the setting up of business parks and residential estates.

More recently she has been working with Andrew & Co LLP’s energy team on several multi-party renewable energy schemes in the agricultural sector. On top of this she has acted for several hospitality clients on the acquisition and disposal of restaurant businesses and licensed premises.

As Partner, Julia has greater involvement in the strategic direction of the firm and looks after the pastoral care of trainee solicitors.

There are currently nine people in the commercial property team and Julia said she is looking to expand: “We are always on the lookout for talented people with the necessary drive and commitment so we can continue to grow in the future.

Taking about the commercial property market Julia added: “The market is buoyant at the moment and we’re noticing housing developers who were considering potential sites now taking those plans forward. Businesses who were previously renting their premises are also now feeling confident enough to buy.

“There’s also still a lot of potential for commercial and residential developments in Lincoln; we are seeing major investors coming together to drive growth. Speaking to our clients on a regular basis it is quite clear to see that developers both big and small are keen to grow and with the right support provided we are seeing more activity taking place.”
