Half-Term Extravaganza at Kelham Hall

Nottinghamshire’s leading dog charity has come to the rescue this half-term to keep your kids entertained.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s Half-Term Extravaganza at Kelham Hall and Country Park on Sunday 26th October is the perfect day out for families who love dogs.

Entry is only £2 per adult and £1 per child which includes a kids’ activity zone, a variety of stalls, a great selection of hot and cold food and the charity’s popular Fun Dog Show which is being opened and judged by the Chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Rita Crowe.

“We’re really excited about the Half-Term Extravaganza at the beautiful Kelham Hall and Country Park,” said Sapphire McInnes, Centre Manager for Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

“We were unable to hold a summer show at our Nottingham centre in Blidworth owing to the extensive building work that is currently taking place to modernise and expand our centre, but this event will be just as good.

“Dogs on leads are welcome and are encouraged to take part in The Fun Dog Show which has nine categories including Most Handsome Dog and Doggie’s Got Talent. It’s only £1 per category, per dog and all proceeds will go towards the rescue charity’s Nottingham centre build appeal.

“The kids’ activity zone includes opportunities to make treat packs for the rescue dogs, information for children about dog behaviour and the chance to find a special micro-chip inside the stuffed dog. We’ll have dog treats on sale and other gift ideas for Christmas, as well as the chance to meet our volunteer Newfoundland dog.

“People who want to make a contribution towards the build can do so either at the centre on Warsop Lane or through our Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/NottsBuildAppeal.”

The event is taking place at Kelham Hall and County Park, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG23 5QX from 11:30am to 4pm. Dog Show entries on the day from 11.30am onwards.

Notes to editors:
Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities. It has rescue centres in five locations:

• Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire
• Blidworth near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
• Broughton near Brigg, North Lincolnshire
• Algarkirk near Boston, Lincolnshire
• Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.

The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.

The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
