Musical Moggies Raise Record Dosh for Doggies

An outdoor concert in North Lincolnshire raised much-needed funds for a dog rescue charity despite the typical British summer weather!

After several downpours, the crowds gathered to watch 1960s band The Moggies, acoustic duo Mia and the Moon and covers band Koostix on Saturday 1st August.

Held at The Mount Tea Room in Castlethorpe, near Brigg, the charity event raised £2,700 through ticket sales for Jerry Green Dog Rescue which has a centre in nearby Broughton.

“We are completely overwhelmed by the amount raised during the Moggies for the Doggies event,” said Jenny Harris, fundraiser at Jerry Green. “This was only our third annual event, but it is growing every year and this year we’ve managed to raise a record amount.

“The funds will be used for food, toys and vet bills to keep our dogs in tip top health and ensure a good quality of life as we search for their forever homes.

“We want to say thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and to those people who gave their time and donated funds so that we could run the event.

“We were supported by another kind donation from The PawPrint Charitable Trust which helped us promote the event through eye-catching banners and secured the booking of Mia and the Moon and Koostix.

“Zara Grey from the Mount Tea Room generously provided the pie and pea supper free of charge and Gary Payne gave his time as compere for the evening.

“Our final thanks go to the performers themselves, The Moggies, Mia and the Moon and Koostix, who each added to the electric atmosphere during the event.”

Notes to editors:

Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities.
• Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.
• The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.
• The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
