Greater Lincolnshire LEP

New Board Member Joins LEP

The CEO of a housing association group has taken a role on the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership board.

Andy Orrey, 52, is at the head of the Ongo Partnership, which was set up by North Lincolnshire Homes to look for new business opportunities while also creating new initiatives to help the people of North Lincolnshire.

He has now been officially appointed to fill a position on the board which became vacant when Neil Turton left at the end of last year.  Andy said: “I was brought up in south Lincolnshire, live in the middle and work in north Lincolnshire so feel I know the area and its issues well.

“I’m passionate about housing and the massive contribution it can and should make to the quality of people’s lives and the local economy. The Greater Lincolnshire LEP has rightly recognised it as a priority and I intend to work with all the relevant partners to deliver the quality and quantity of housing the people of Lincolnshire need.

“The LEP is such a forward-thinking body, with a clear and deliverable plan for improving the economy of the county – I’m really looking forward to help turn that plan into delivered projects.”

As a qualified accountant, Andy brings with him a wealth of financial experience.

Before joining Ongo in 2007, Andy began his career in the early 1980s at Xenotron, a computer hardware and software manufacture, working as the company’s UK accountant before becoming financial controller.

He then moved on to become the senior management accountant at Prudential Assurance Company, working on the firm’s £3 billion turnover, before becoming the CFO and company secretary at Eutectic Company LTD. This was followed by several roles at  Bombardier Transportation, formerly Daimler Chrysler Rail Systems & ABB, and working as European Finance Director of G&P Group Holdings.

In his role at Ongo he is responsible for developing the strategic direction of the organisation and has successfully converted the housing association into a group with both a commercial and  community subsidiary. A parent organisation has also been added, bringing strong corporate governance across the group.

Andy is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, sits on the board at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe and is a member of the Health and Wellbeing Board of North Lincolnshire.

Ursula Lidbetter MBE, Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, said: “We wanted to appoint somebody who could act as an advocate from the North Lincolnshire business community and would be able to think strategically and take a broad view across the full range of issues affecting Greater Lincolnshire.

“Andy fills those requirements to an exemplary degree, and we’re sure he will be able to play a key role in helping Greater Lincolnshire to continue to be a prosperous and economically strong region.”
