Three high flyers at accountants and business advisers Duncan & Toplis in Lincoln and Boston have earned promotions.

Antony Voakes and Rachel Barrett have both taken up the role of Associate Director at the firm’s Lincoln office, while Sarah Clyde at Boston has been promoted to Director.

Antony joined Duncan & Toplis in 2013 looking for a new challenge having been a director at an independent practice. He trained at Top 10 and Big 4 accounting firms where he qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser and Taxation Technician.

Rachel has worked in an accountancy practice role for 25 years and joined Duncan & Toplis in 2007. She has a wealth of experience behind her, having completed her professional qualifications as both a technician and chartered certified accountant and now manages a range of family-owned businesses in a variety of industries and professions.

Over the last few years she has also helped to establish and grow a family business with her sister.

“I thoroughly enjoy working at Duncan & Toplis and acting on my passion for helping businesses manage their finances,” she said. “Being involved in the financial management of my sister’s business has allowed me to understand and empathise with the problems faced by business owners on a daily basis. As a result of experiencing this from the other side of the fence, I feel I can provide a more comprehensive service to my clients.”

Sarah joined the firm in 1999 as a newly qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and has gradually taken on more and more responsibility. She was promoted to Manager in 2006 looking after a mixed portfolio of incorporated and unincorporated clients.

She was promoted again last year to Associate Director after being selected to take part in the firm’s new leadership academy. The academy was set up in 2013 by Duncan & Toplis to identify the people who might lead the practice in the future.

“I am very pleased and excited by my promotion to Director,” she said. “I’m looking forward to the challenges of my new role including bringing new clients into the firm and building on relationships with existing clients.”
