Wearing novelty jumpers and baking cakes aren’t normally part of the day job for a solicitor, but staff at Andrew & Co Solicitors have done all this and more in aid of the Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark.
They have raised £2,500 for the charity which provides support to hundreds of children and young people, aged three to 18, and their families affected by death, terminal illness, separation or divorce.
Partner at Andrew & Co Solicitors in Newark Michael Pace said: “We are always keen to support local charities within our community and we chose the Children’s Bereavement Centre as our charity of the year as it has supported thousands of young people during what is often a very sad and difficult time in their lives. We hope that the money raised will enable them to continue the good work they do.
“I would like to thank our staff who have worked hard to raise the money and also our clients, one of whom very generously donated £500 to our cause. Without their efforts we wouldn’t have been able to raise such a fantastic amount!
“We believe it’s really important to help local charities as they provide vital services to people who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn. Also, many of their staff are volunteers who give up their time to help others and this is one way we can show them how much we appreciate what they do.”
Caroline Froggatt, Corporate and Community Engagement Coordinator at the Children’s Bereavement Centre, said: “The support Andrew & Co has given us has been fantastic. The generous amount they have raised will be used to help many children who access our services at one of the most traumatic times in their lives.
“It costs £25 for a child to have one bereavement support session; each child is offered eight sessions and last year we saw over 600 children across Nottinghamshire and parts of Lincolnshire. Funding like this is vital if we are to continue – without it we simply could not help as many families as we currently do each year.”
