Café Blends New Teas for Doggy Donations

The Mount Tea Room in Brigg has launched its own blend of teas that will help to raise funds for a local dog charity.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue will receive 20p from every cup of OTTeas sold. The new range includes four blends that are unique to The Mount Tea Room and includes green tea, English breakfast tea, Earl Grey and almond.

The charity’s founder Jerry Green lived on the grounds of the tea room for nearly 30 years and the owner, Zara Grey, has been an ongoing supporter of the charity.

“I’ve always wanted to create my own blend of house teas at The Mount Tea Room and felt that it was a great opportunity to support Jerry Green Dog Rescue too,” said Zara.

“OTTeas are only available from our tea room so I would encourage people to come along, try the new blends and help raise money for charity at the same time. I’m a big dog-lover and will be hosting a Brew Up Help a Pup event on Monday 26th May all day from 09:30am.”

Catherine Foster, Head of Fundraising at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, said “We’re delighted that Zara has generously offered to donate 20p of all the OTTeas sold to the charity. We rely heavily on donations from the public and sponsors so we can continue to rescue and re-home dogs in need.

“We wish Zara all the best in the launch of her OTTeas range and will certainly be popping in to try a cup or two!”

OTTeas are blended with the finest quality China black tea and imported from China by the oldest tea importers in the country, Reginald Ames of Kent.

Notes to editors:

Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities. It has rescue centres in five locations:

• Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire
• Blidworth near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
• Broughton near Brigg, North Lincolnshire
• Algarkirk near Boston, Lincolnshire
• Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.

The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.

The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
