Charity to Host Summer Show with a Difference

Looking for a fun day out for all the family? Come along to a summer show with a difference in Broughton, near Brigg!

Jerry Green Dog Rescue is hosting a dog-themed summer show at its North Lincolnshire centre in Broughton, on Sunday 12th July from 11.30am to 4.30pm. It’s only £1 entry per adult and under-16s go free.

The event will have a fun dog show, dog agility demonstrations by Field Of Dreams Dog Training team and scent-work demonstrations by Morag Heirs of Well Connected Canine and the Humberside Police Dog Section. Dog owners are welcome to have a go at agility with their dogs too.

The fun dog show will feature 10 different classes, including Junior Jerry’s: Child Handler, Best Veteran (eight years plus), Coolest Pup (16 weeks to one year) and Best Fancy Dress. Entries will be taken from 11.30am on the day and cost £1 per dog, per class. Judging will begin at midday.

The kids’ activity zone will keep little ones entertained, with an opportunity to meet Elsa from Frozen, during the princess parties. There are activities to teach them about dog body language and behaviour; there will also be colouring in competitions, educational games and a chance to make treat boxes for the rescue dogs. Children can also have a go at scanning Cindy the stuffed dog to learn about micro-chipping.

Visitors are invited to get involved in the rescue dog walkabout and take a look at various stalls selling dog treats, plants, jewellery, fresh fruit and vegetables and much more.

People who don’t have a dog can find out more about the rescue dogs currently looking for a forever home and relax with a choice of hot or cold food and drinks at the various catering areas run by Winterton Lions, Crosby One WI, Veggies Catering and Holly Beans Gourmet Coffee.

“Whether you’re a dog owner or not, our summer show has something for everyone,” said Rebecca Issott, Centre Manager for Jerry Green Dog Rescue. “This year our team is excited to welcome both old and new visitors to what we hope will be our best event to date. If you are interested in having a trade or craft table contact us for more information or a booking form.”

“You can speak to our friendly team about rehoming a dog, take a look at our stalls and enter your pet into the dog show – all this for just £1 entry!

“All the proceeds will help us to look after rescue dogs in our care before finding them the perfect new home.”

The charity is hosting summer events across all of its centres. Other events will take place on Sunday 21st June at the North Yorkshire centre in Thirsk, Sunday 16th August at the South Lincolnshire centre in Algarkirk, Sunday 23rd August at the newly built Nottinghamshire centre in Blidworth and Sunday 27th September at the East Yorkshire centre in Gilberdyke.
