Communication Avenue Named as Business Award Finalist

Leading direct marketing and information company Communication Avenue has been shortlisted in three categories in the Newark Business Awards.

As well as being named as finalists in the Successful New Business and Excellence in Business categories, the team is delighted for colleague Leah Wall who was shortlisted in the Apprentice of the Year category.

Newark-born Leah (22) joined Communication Avenue in September 2013 as part of the company’s Academy Programme which offers real-life business experience to apprentices aged 16 to 24.

During the programme Leah gained valuable industry insights in a number of areas including sales and production but found her passion within the accounts department, where she recently celebrated her first year anniversary as the account assistant.

Leah said: “The team has always been supportive, especially while I was learning the ropes during the academy programme.

“Since graduating in September 2014 I have been encouraged to continue my professional development, which I’m really pleased about.

“It’s an honour to be nominated for Apprentice of the Year and I’m looking forward to representing Communication Avenue at the awards.”

Leah is currently working towards her AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, which Communication Avenue is supporting her with.

Now in its third year the Academy Programme has trained seven young people and seen them all graduate and fulfil permanent roles within the company.

Phil Lightfoot, Communication Avenue’s CEO, said: “Leah has proved to be an indispensable member of the team on many occasions, but during the recent restructure of the finance department her knowledge of both the company and the systems proved critical in the introduction and transition of the new accounts team.

“She is driven, hardworking and has become a role model for other young people coming through the academy and we’re pleased that the Newark Business Awards have recognised her achievements.

“The whole team at Communication Avenue wish Leah all the best for the awards!”

Communication Avenue will attend the Newark Business Awards ceremony at Kelham Hall on the 7th December 2015.
