Swimmers taking part in last year's Swimarathon.

Duncan & Toplis Urges Swimmers to Splash for Cash!

Get your goggles on and get ready, set, go for the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia ‘Swimarathon’, supported by chartered accountants Duncan & Toplis.

Teams of six people are being invited to take part in the annual fund raising event which will be held on Sunday 28th February at the Yarborough Leisure Centre.

The charities benefiting this year will be When You Wish Upon A Star, which grants wishes to children between the ages of two and 16 who suffer from a life-threatening or terminal illness and Umbrellas, which is raising funds to create a play and meeting place for children, young people and adults in Lincolnshire with additional needs.

Moira Adams of the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia said: “We are welcoming swimmers of all abilities to take part in what we think is a really fun event. For the past two years we’ve raised £6,000 so we want to try and do the same again!

“This year, we even have the option for pregnant mums as well as mums and babies to take part in the shallow pool, so there’s a chance for everyone to be involved.”

There are several start times on the day, but Moira advises swimmers to get their forms in as soon as possible to guarantee a place.

Damon Brain, Director at Duncan & Toplis, said: “We’re proud to be a sponsor for the Swimarathon. It’s a great event that everyone can take part in and if it raises funds for these two worthy local charities, that’s all the better. Here’s hoping it’s a busy day and we’d like to wish all of the swimmers the best of luck!”

To take part, teams must register beforehand at www.swimarathonlincoln.co.uk. Registration costs £10 per team.

Teams will swim for 55 minutes in relay, with officials counting the number of lengths completed. Individual swimmers need to get their own sponsorship and each swimmer gets a certificate and medal for taking part. There’s also a prize for the team which raises the most funds. Entry for teams is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 60 so get going now!
