A trainee accountant at Duncan & Toplis has been awarded a prestigious prize for achieving the highest exam results in the area.

Amber Haresign (24), ACA Trainee at Duncan & Toplis’ Grantham office, received the John Beere Prize from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) at the Nottingham Chartered Accountants’ Student Society (NCASS) annual dinner, held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.

The prize recognises the achievement of the highest exam results that year in the completion of the professional stage of the ACA qualification in accounting.

“There were six exams to complete, three in June and three in September, to finish the professional stage of the qualification,” said Amber.

“I’d obviously worked really hard for my exams but had no idea I’d actually won the award. It was a complete surprise to hear my name announced – I couldn’t believe it.”

Amber joined Duncan & Toplis in 2013 and is overjoyed to have been rewarded for her efforts in completing her ACA exams.

“I’m so pleased to have won, it’s a fantastic feeling. I’m now looking forward to completing the next stage of exams to become fully qualified,” she added.

The professional stage of the ACA qualification is the second of three stages in becoming a qualified accountant and Amber looks to become fully qualified by the end of the year, after completing three more exams.

“I’d like to congratulate Amber on her recent award win – it’s fantastic news and puts her in good stead for the next stage of her ACA exams,” said Duncan Andrew, a Director of Duncan & Toplis.
