Gilberdyke Hosts Spectacular Summer Show

If you’re seeking a fun day out with all the family – dogs included – then head over to Gilberdyke for a charity summer show on Sunday 27th September from 11.30am to 4.30pm!

The free summer show at Jerry Green Dog Rescue will include a series of dog show classes, demonstrations and agility activities which visitors are invited to have a go at with their dogs.

The fun dog show will feature 10 different classes, including Junior Jerry’s: Child Handler, Best Veteran (eight years plus), Coolest Pup (16 weeks to one year) and Best Fancy Dress. Entries will be taken from 11.30am on the day and cost £1.50 per dog, per class. Judging will begin at midday.

Families are invited to get involved in the adopted rescue dog walkabout and take a look at various stalls offering a teddy tombola and other games, fun glitter tattoos, a BBQ and a range of special cakes for dogs to enjoy.

People who don’t have a dog can find out more about the rescue dogs currently looking for a forever home and relax with a choice of hot or cold drinks and food.

Blake Coghill, Centre Manager for Jerry Green Dog Rescue said: “Our annual summer show is a great opportunity for us to catch up with our supporters and welcome new families and their dogs to the centre for a day of fun.

“There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities from agility trials to the fun dog show.

“And if you’re thinking about adopting a rescue dog you can speak to our friendly team who will be happy to discuss the process and answer any questions.

“Best of all, the proceeds from the summer show will help us look after rescue dogs in our care as we find them the perfect forever home.”

The charity has five centres at Thirsk in North Yorkshire, Blidworth in Nottinghamshire, Gilberdyke in East Yorkshire, Broughton in North Lincolnshire and Algarkirk in Lincolnshire and aims to find forever homes for over 800 dogs every year.

With operating costs of £1.5 million, the continual support of staff, volunteers and members of the public helps the charity address the needs of the dogs in its care, as well as those who offer dogs loving and permanent homes.
