Musical Moggies Raise Dosh for Doggies

An outdoor charity concert in North Lincolnshire is helping to raise cash for rescue dogs next month.

1960s band The Moggies, acoustic duo Mia and the Moon and covers band Koostix are performing at The Mount Tea Room in Castlethorpe, near Brigg on Saturday 1st August from 4pm until 9.30pm in support of Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

Tickets for Moggies for the Doggies include live music and a pie and pea supper for just £15 for adults, and children go free. A licensed summer bar and ice cream will also be available.

“We’re really excited to be hosting our third Moggies for the Doggies summer concert at The Mount Tea Room,” said Jenny Harris, fundraiser at Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

Jenny explained that Koostix are the latest addition to the bill following last year’s concert. “Both The Moggies and Mia and the Moon went down really well at our fundraising event last year and we’re looking forward to adding Koostix to the event in the big top marquee again this year. It’s a great venue, just perfect for an outdoor summer concert.”

The event will also act as a semi-retirement celebration for Rafferty, a Newfoundland breed dog, who has been volunteering with Jerry Green Dog Rescue for eight years.

Rafferty, whose fundraising prowess has helped the charity raise more than £12,000, will soon hand over the reins to Rookie, an eight-month-old Newfoundland who recently started his training to become a fundraising volunteer.

Jenny concluded: “All the proceeds will help us to look after rescue dogs in our care before finding them the perfect forever home. Thanks to The Moggies, Mia and the Moon, Koostix and Zara Grey for supplying the beautiful venue and all of her support in this joint fundraising event!”

As this is an outdoor event, guests are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a torch for use in the car park. Dogs are welcome.

Tickets are available from Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s fundraising department, Broughton, Brigg, North Lincolnshire, DN20 0BJ – call 01652 650886 or email fundraising@jerrygreendogs.org.uk – and The Mount Tea Room, Castlethorpe, DN20 9LG.

Notes to editors:

Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities.
• Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.
• The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.
• The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
