New Recruits Required for Employment & Skills Board

The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership is seeking new members for its Employment and Skills Board.

Business leaders and specialists are needed to join the board that was created in 2009 to provide a link between local economic development needs and strategic planning.

The board aims to boost economic growth by creating a more highly skilled and appropriate workforce, shaping employment and skills training and support to meet the needs of Greater Lincolnshire employers.

“The role of the LEP is becoming more exciting and more significant, and we’re working on a number of fronts to make Greater Lincolnshire a prosperous and economically strong region,” said LEP Director Ruth Carver.

“As the skills arm of the LEP, the Greater Lincolnshire Employment and Skills Board has a very specific role in developing and informing the LEP’s strategic plans with particular reference to skills and training needs.

“This includes the skills needs of our young people, those seeking jobs and the skills of our current workforce.”

Successful candidates to join the board will be strategic thinkers who are able to step back and see the bigger picture across the LEP area and who want to make a contribution to improving the skills of a particular sector, location or group of people.

They will live or work in Greater Lincolnshire and have good knowledge of the area and its key employment sectors.

The LEP hopes to recruit three new board members: one from the private sector, one from the schools or education sector and one from the further education sector.

The posts are voluntary and the current vacancies are for the private sector and educational leaders across Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The role involves attending around five meetings per year, attending other meetings as a representative for the LEP and ESB, background reading of papers and documents and contributing to strategic plans.

For an informal discussion please call Clare Hughes on 01522 550545.

Applications should be made by sending a CV and covering letter to Emma Mumby either by post to Greater Lincolnshire LEP, City Hall, Beaumont Fee, Lincoln, LN1 1DD or via email to GLLEPsecretariat@lincolnshire.gov.uk.

The deadline for applications is 9th January 2015.
