It was a case of swapping software for sports gear last weekend as OrderWise sponsored and took part in the Saxilby 5K.

The Saxilby-based software firm showed its support by getting involved in what was the village’s inaugural 5K race. Organised by Saxilby with Ingleby Parish Council, the annual event is intended as an initiative for the local community to take part in and have fun while raising money for charities of their choice.

Managing Director of OrderWise David Hallam, who took part in the race and also presented the medals, said: “This is a great event for the village and we’re so glad to have been able to sponsor the first one. We even got a good bunch of us from the office to join in so hopefully people will have dug deep to support the various charities involved!”

David’s son Tom, Sam Dobson from the company’s Support Team, IT Technician Jay Lee, Project Coordinator Laura Lee and their son Shane also took part, with Shane managing to come third in the boy’s 11-15 category.

The event started and finished at St. Andrews Community Centre in Saxilby, with 140 runners taking part, and the course was marshalled by qualified staff, with additional support from OrderWise employees and local volunteers.

The sponsorship from OrderWise also helped fund the t-shirts and medals for all participants, as well as the selection of trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in the different categories.

OrderWise has recently committed to a £1.3 million expansion in the village, which will see its premises at Newton Court on Saxilby Enterprise Park grow to accommodate several new teams and a mock warehouse. The warehouse, which will open in 2017, will allow customers and staff to get familiar with using OrderWise software then allow them to apply their knowledge in a practical environment.
