Rescue dogs travel in style

Lucky dogs at a state-of-the-art rescue centre, which officially opens in Nottinghamshire this summer, will travel in style thanks to a generous charitable donation.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Blidworth has taken delivery of an eye-catching new van featuring photos of two of the charity’s recent residents – lurcher Sadie and Staffie-cross Henry. The vehicle, which will be used for both rescue and rehoming, was kindly donated by The PawPrint Charitable Trust.

PawPrint chairman John Taylor said: “The Nottinghamshire Centre is staging an official opening on Sunday 23rd August, to showcase its magnificent new facilities and we thought it would be great for them to have a brand new van, too.

“We decided to use the wonderful pictures of Jerry Green dogs taken by photographer Jess Wealleans to make the van stand out and I believe Henry has already found his forever home – though Sadie is still looking!”

Sapphire McInnes, Deputy Manager at Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s Nottinghamshire Centre, said: “This brilliant van will help our staff transport dogs in a safe and secure way. The rescue and rehoming process can sometimes be a little daunting but, thanks to PawPrint, our dogs will arrive in style.”

The vehicle was purchased from Robin and Day dealership of Derby and the signwriting was added by Espin Signs of Scunthorpe.

Notes to editors:

Jerry Green Dog Rescue was founded in 1961 in Broughton, Lincolnshire and is now one of the UK’s largest dog rescue charities.
• Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.
• The adoption process at Jerry Green Dog Rescue involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.
• The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donors/sponsors.
