Shooting Star Takes PRide in Double Award Win

December 1, 2017

PR and marketing specialist Shooting Star has strengthened its position as one of the leading small consultancies in the UK after winning two Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) awards.

The agency, which was first established in Lincolnshire in 2006, won gold at the South of England and Channel Islands PRide Awards and silver in the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region.

The seven-strong team secured the awards in the Arts, Culture or Sport Campaign category for their work with 2014 and 2015 British sidecar champions Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood.

Director of Shooting Star Kate Strawson explained: “As sidecar racing is a relatively obscure sport there was little coverage of it, so it was important to bring it to the fore.

“As part of the strategy we used social media to give fans an exclusive insight into Ricky and Ryan’s life on and off the track. We also broadcast live Q&As to make them more accessible to fans and negotiated a partnership with Motorcycle Racer magazine, securing the front cover which was a first for the sport.

“The icing on the cake was a feature on BBC Breakfast with sports correspondent Mike Bushell which reached a potential audience of over one million viewers.”

Fellow Director Jez Ashberry said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been recognised with two CIPR PRide awards, especially the gold at the South of England and Channel Islands ceremony as we were up against five other agencies. I’m pleased for the whole team, whose hard work and enthusiasm has really paid off.

“It’s been a big year for Shooting Star – we’ve celebrated our 11th birthday and seen the number of clients increase by nearly a third, so these awards are the perfect way to round off 2017.”

Shooting Star offers a wide range of services and works for public and private sector clients across the UK including the Midlands Engine, the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Somerset and the UK’s leading glass packing manufacturer Beatson Clark in Rotherham.
