They Do Like to be Beside the Seaside!

Three new members of staff have joined the team at Duncan & Toplis in Skegness as the firm continues to grow its presence in the town.

Emily Hopwood and Helen Singleton completed their A-levels recently and have been recruited as trainee accountants, while South African Annerley Owen  has taken up a role as a book keeper.

Emily Hopwood (19) lives in Louth and passed her A-levels in Business, English and Sociology at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Alford last year.

“I enjoyed the financial side of my Business A-level and I’d like to become qualified as a chartered accountant,” she explained.

Helen Singleton (20), who lives in Burgh-le-Marsh, passed five A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and ICT at Skegness Grammar School and is studying part-time for a degree with the Open University.

“At school I enjoyed maths and when I saw that Duncan & Toplis were offering a trainee accountant position I thought it was a good opportunity for me to begin a career in accounting.”

Annerley Owen (49) is married to a Lincolnshire man and relocated to Withern near Louth from South Africa in 2012.

“I have many years of general accounting and book keeping experience and I am very happy to be part of the Duncan & Toplis team,” she said.

Paul McCooey, the Director in charge of the Skegness office of Duncan & Toplis, says he’s pleased to see his team continue to grow.

“We’re staffing for growth, and our continued expansion will enable us to continue to provide a quality client-focused service,” he said.

“We’re very optimistic about the future. The economic outlook in this part of the UK is very positive, and there is lots of development going on in and around Skegness.

“Businesses here had a bumper 2014 season, bookings for 2015 are at least on a par with where they were last year and and the economy in general is definitely picking up.”
