Chartered accountants Duncan & Toplis has rewarded three team members with promotions at its Grantham office from 1 April.

Graeme Hills makes the leap from Director to Equity Director. Julia Sells, HR Manager, will become an HR Associate Director, and Clare Hulme is to be promoted from Manager to Associate Director.

Managing Director of Duncan & Toplis Adrian Reynolds said: “It is with great pride that we promote these three exceptional individuals. Here at Duncan & Toplis we are committed to our team and reward their hard work accordingly. Clare, Graeme and Julia have brought their experience to the fore and I wish to congratulate them on their new roles.

“Over the past year we have taken on 22 new professionals across the firm and we also had 21 training contracts and placements starting late last year, so the ongoing development of our team at all levels continues.”

Graeme, who joined Duncan & Toplis in 2004 at the firm’s Skegness office, moved to the Grantham office in 2013 where he was appointed Director in 2015.

Specialising in taxation, Graeme is also a Director of Duncan & Toplis’ sister business Castlegate Financial Management Ltd and a Director and the Head of Legal Practice for Duncan & Toplis Probate Services Limited.

Graeme said: “The transition to my new role should not mean a substantial change to my day-to-day role. However there will be a greater emphasis on safeguarding the business and improving the service we offer to our clients, not to mention the opportunity to influence the future of the firm.”

Clare, who has been with the company for just 12 months, specialises in agriculture and equine clients.

“The promotion has come as a pleasant shock,” she said, “but I am looking forward to the challenge. I’m going to be more responsible for client relations and I’ll be looking after some hard-working teams.”

Julia joined the company in 2013 and specialises in providing HR solutions to both the Duncan & Toplis group and the group’s growing client base. Julia is a chartered member of the CIPD and has extensive knowledge and experience in both operational and strategic HR across a wide range of sectors. These include manufacturing, construction, public sector and IT inventory management, where she was part of the senior management team. Julia is looking forward to continuing to be an ambassador for the Duncan & Toplis group.
