Young Rotary Bollywood Bonanza Raises the Roof

A night of Indian-themed music, dancing and fantastic food has raised more than £1,200 for an orphanage in need.

A crowd of 150 revellers danced the night away at a Bollywood night at the Hubberts Bridge Community Centre. The crowd enjoyed the sounds of singer Amy Law and the moves of pupils from Giles Academy, Old Leake who performed Indian dance demonstrations.

The night was organised by the recently formed The Rotary Satellite Group, also known as Boston Young Rotary, and the Rotary Club of Boston.

Paige-Maria Welbourn, a member of Boston Young Rotary and accounts preparation team member at Duncan & Toplis in Boston, said: “We had an amazing night and we’re so pleased to have such a great turnout for our first event.

“We made a decision as a group to support the Prem Sadan orphanage, which is close to Mumbai. The £1,200 total is likely to grow, so it should really help the valuable work the orphanage carries out, caring for the children it supports.”

Guests on the night had the chance to get temporary henna tattoos as well as helping to raise further funds through a raffle and tombola.

Managing Director at Duncan & Toplis Adrian Reynolds said: “We’re very proud of Paige’s efforts and the ambitions of the newly formed Boston Young Rotary. We encourage our team members to get involved in charitable causes and this is a great example of that in effect. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the next event they organise with interest.”

The Boston Young Rotary was set up in April and is currently seeking new members. The club is a spin-off of the Rotary Club of Boston and its members get together once a month to plan and organise charity events of their choice. Visit www.facebook.com/bostonyoungrotary for more information.
